The Legion of Mary is a lay Catholic organization founded in Dublin, Ireland, in 1921 by Frank Duff. It is dedicated to evangelization and personal sanctification through prayer and active apostolic work. Members, organized in parish-based groups called praesidia, engage in various charitable activities, such as visiting the sick, elderly, and imprisoned, and promoting the faith within their communities. The Legion emphasizes Marian devotion, reflecting its belief in the Virgin Mary's powerful intercession and exemplary role in leading people to Christ.
